Frank Hannam (verified owner) –
I wanted to do my bit for the environment and obviate, as much as possible, plastic waste so I decided to only use paper cartridges. These ‘Three Crowns’ were the only 16 bore option I could find and as they are only supplied in a 26 gram load, that was what I ordered, shot size 6. I was a little worried about the pellet count and would have preferred a 28 gram load. I need not have worried, only on birds that were pushing the range boundaries did I wish I had a bigger load but having found the limits I confined myself to birds that were within the capabilities of the cartridge and knocked birds down efficiently.
The cartridges are well made and enter and exit the chamber freely, the recoil is negligible and shooting them is a truly pleasant experience. It is a real shame that the lead ban will probably see the demise of this cartridge, I hope that some way can be found to produce a non-toxic paper cased cartridge (in all bore sizes not just 16) that doesn’t require a mortgage to purchase. In the meantime I shall continue to use these excellent cartridges for as much of my shooting as they are suitable.
